I can recall a time when I was about 17 years old as where it really hit me. It was October of my senior year in High School when I was working at a small coffee stand in a large supermarket located right next to the deli department. One Saturday at around noon, one of the deli workers and I got into a discussion/argument about the New York Mets and Yankees. Now I had done radio for two years in high school prior to this situation so it’s not like the first time I’ve been engaged like that. It seemed like normal every day chit-chat until I looked at the clock and saw it was 3:30pm and we were still rolling. One of the other deli workers said “Wow you should have your own radio show for something like that”. That’s how it all started.

My name is Chris Picano, and in case you couldn’t tell I have a passion (or maybe it’s an obsession?) with sports. Not just Met and Yankee baseball, ALL sports. Whether it’s giving my insight about the state of a local baseball team, or going off on a tangent about curling in the Olympics, if it’s a sport it will be covered. Even though I did radio in high school, my real start came as an announcer for Freestyle Skiing events and it’s blossomed into this dream come true opportunity. I grew up in a town called West Windsor just outside of Princeton to two parents who grew up in and around New York City (so naturally I love to argue). Currently in my senior year at Centenary College after three wonderful years and I’m ready to take on the Communication world. I’m not alone either as I have my lovely import from Finland, Ms. Kiti Ovaskainen. I couldn’t have asked for a better producer and sidekick than Kiti, who is incredibly well versed in many sports from around the world as well as here. The two of us promise to deliver the goods each and every week for the amazing audience this great radio station has. With our expanded knowledge of sports we are going to give you the best possible program we can every Thursday night. It’s all go-no quit on the Sportsbuzz!

It may just be Kiti and I in the studio, but the audience IS the Sportsbuzz. The heart and soul of this program doesn’t come from a Jersey guy and a Finnish girl, it comes from the words of all the Sportsbuzzers out there.
